Walking is natural and doesn't require memberships or equipment...#WellnessWednesday
I finally went for an intentional walk outdoors to help improve my physical fitness which has been suffering over the previous six months due to lack of movement. I had been Power Walking last year but no extracurricular walking this year, at all. My body was speaking, loudly, that it was missing  walking. What did that look or feel like? Joint stiffness, discomfort when bending down to pick up something or when stretching intentionally, sluggishness and weight gain. Not acceptable! It was a matter of time before I would get back on track with some level of indoor or outdoor walking.

Even though no memberships are necessary, you may want to walk with someone for the fellowship and accountability. My 'Adventure' buddy/colleague initiated the walk but she first suggested bike riding. I was on board until I was still and realized, um, I haven't been walking, so how would bike riding be the first thing out??? Um, not yet, let's lead up to it. Walking was the solution.

There are many opportunities for walking other than outdoors. Indoor walking can be achieved by virtual/online walks, guided walks on DVR or YouTube, circuit walking in your home and just walking in place while looking at TV or at your stand up desk.

Whatever works for you, remember walking is natural and doesn't require memberships or equipment.
